Six Flags Great America
Many people love to visit the various Six Flags theme parks that are located in different cities in America. In many ways these parkas are all similar. In lots of other ways they are all different. For instance Six Flags Great America which is found in Gurnee, Illinois is the seventh park in the Six Flags chain of theme parks. This theme park is divided into 8 different theme parks that are located within the park itself.
To make your time of choosing rides even more difficult you will find that Six Flags Great America is home to a 15 acre water park. Unlike many of the other Six Flags Great America has 2 separate theme parks for children. There you will find lots of different activities for your kids.
The peak periods for Six Flags Great America occurs during July and August. In addition if you visit the theme park during October there are many people who come on the weekends for the Fright Fest. This is a special event that occurs for Halloween.
Now one of the interesting things that you can find in Six Flags Great America is that each section of the park has its own theme. This theme is echoed in the shops, the foods and the costumes that the various staff and park characters wear.
There is an interesting ride that was opened in 1976. This ride is still used today where it is still very popular. The ride is called The Orbit. Here the Ferris wheel type of ride starts its journey flat just above the ground. This way its passengers can get in and off without much difficulty. After all of the passengers have locked themselves into their seats, the wheel begins to turn.
Next once the wheel reaches its full spinning limit it is held in a nearly vertical position. As the wheel passes over the highest point the passengers ride upside down for a little while. You will find this great ride in Hometown Square. There is another blood tingling ride that you can go on. This is known as the Roaring Rapids.
This Intamin rapids ride is filled with lots of thrills. Originally this ride was called White Water Rampage. Many of the constant visitors to Six Flags Great America have dubbed this ride as the Final Ride of the Crow. It is said to be one of the park’s premier rides.
Six Flags Great America is one of the better known theme parks that you can have fun at. Here you can lose yourself in the many blood racing rides that are waiting for you. To cool off from all of this excitement you can head over to Hurricane Bay the free water park that is a haven of cooling waters. Just beware of the large monster waves that are sneaking up behind you.
